Fantasy or reality? That is what NBC’s highly anticipated mid-season drama Awake is asking. This intriguing drama follows Detective Micheal Britten (Jason Isaacs – Harry Potter franchise) as he struggles to find if he is living in a dream world, or if he is living in reality.
Britten tries to put the pieces of his life back together after a terrible accident that him, his wife and son were in. He regains consciousness to find that he and his son has survived the accident, while his wife passes away. He wakes up again, this time to his wife being alive and finding that his son died in the car accident. Which reality is true for Britten? He struggles to keep both realities in line with each other so both of his loved ones can always be with him.
To cope with his losses, he seeks therapy – in both worlds. Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones (24) plays his therapist in one world, while B.D. Wong (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) plays his therapist in the other.
This show will be very interesting for the audience to figure out which universe is true for Britten, the one where his wife is alive, or the one where his son is alive. Over the course of the season, there will be many hints and clues on which parallel universe he is actually in, and how he copes with finding out which life he is awake in, and which life he is dreaming about.
Awake premieres on NBC this Spring.
