The fifth season of The Game, starring Tia Mowry Hardict, Wendy Raquel Robinson, and Pooch Hall follows the life of San Diego football players, and the woman that are along for the ride with the fame and everything that goes along with being the wife of a pro football player.
Season 4 of The Game ended in March, and the viewers were left with Melanie (Mowry-Hardict) and Derwin (Hall) visiting a fertility clinic to see a specialist about the possibility of having children. Tasha (Robinson) found out that her new love interest Bo (guest star Mario Van Peeples) has an illness, and Malik (Hosea Chanchez) deals with the possibility of losing his job.
The Game originated as a spin-off of UPN’s Girlfriends in 2006, and ran on The CW for three season before being cancelled after only averaging a mere 1.8 million viewers for its third season. BET picked up the cancelled comedy after a huge fan campaign trying to save the show due to the urban, African American demographic that The Game served, which went perfectly with the BET audience. Season four of The Game premiered on January 11th, 2011 to a whopping 7.7 million viewers, the biggest cable sitcom debut to date. At the end of season four, The Game leveled off with a still impressive 4.4 million viewers.
Season five of The Game will consist of 22 episodes, and will premiere Tuesday, January 10th at 10p.m. on BET.
