ABC has been riding high all season. The network ratings are up, they’ve had a solid slate of new shows this season with hits like Suburgatory, Last Man Standing, Revenge, and Once Upon a Time, and a lot of highly buzz-worthy shows like Apt 23 and GCB coming midseason.
Once mid-season show that isn’t on the list of shows most likely to make it to its second season, cross-dressing comedy Work It.
According the official ABC press release, Work It is apparently supposed to be a “high concept comedy.” You can see for yourself when you watch the clip. Work It stars Ben Koldyke (How I Met Your Mother), Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break), and Rebecca Mader (Lost) that centers on two guys who can’t find work, so they decide to dress as women to seek employment at a pharmaceutical company. Once they get the jobs, they find out that dressing as women by make them better men.
ABC believes this show is the perfect blend of buddy comedy, family comedy, and workplace comedy. Even though ABC found success with traditional comedy Last Man Standing this season, honestly, if ABC veteran Tim Allen wasnt the star of it, it would have been cancelled after 13 episodes along with fellow Tuesday night male-targeted comedy Man Up! ABC has developed a great pedigree of comedy over the past three seasons with hits Modern Family, The Middle, and new-found gem Happy Endings, Work It doesn’t fit into the ABC comedy mold, at all.
Take a look, and judge for yourself.
Work It premieres Tuesday, January 3rd at 830p.m. on ABC.
