Preview: The Three Stooges Movie

Yes, I know this is a blog about TV so you might be wondering why I am showing a clip of The Three Stooges movie, but as a quick reminder, The Three Stooges first started as a series of TV shorts on ABC back in 1949, then sold into syndication in 1958. Not to mention, this movie is filled with TV superstars.

The Three Stooges stars Chris Diamantopoulus (The Stater Wife, 24) as Moe, Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) as Larry, and Will Sasso (Sh*t My Dad Says) as Curly, the iconic trio who try to save their childhood orphanage, who end up being in involved in a murder plot and wind up being on a reality series.

The Three Stooges also stars Jane Lynch (Glee), Sofia Vergare (Modern Family), Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), and Stephen Collins (7th Heaven, No Ordinary Family). Jennifer Hudson, Dwight Howard, and Snooki, J-Woww, Ronnie, and The Situation from Jersey Shore also make appearances.

This movie has been in development for the last 10 years, went through a slew of casting problems, and went through four studios so it could be produced before landing at 20th Century Fox. I know the Farrelly Brothers (There’s Something About Mary, Dumb and Dumber, Shallow Hal) are happy to see a final product and an official release date set.

I wasn’t brought up on the original Three Stooges when I was younger, and despite a lackluster and cheesy sounding premise, the combination of the movie trailer and the stars of this movie will guarantee I see this movie when it is released.

The Three Stooges is set to be released in theaters on April 4th, 2012.
