Movie actress Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) is set to star in the Broadway musical-drama Smash for a multi-episode arc.
This is big casting news for the new drama starring Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, and Katharine McPhee as a group of people trying to put on a Broadway production based on the life of the famed Marilyn Monroe. Thurman will join Smash for five episodes as a demanding movie actress who contemplates the idea of starring in a Broadway musical, and trying to get the lead role as Marilyn. There is no word on when Thurman’s episode will air.
Thurman isn’t known for her TV roles, so her appearing on this new show will add to the shows “gotta watch factor” once it premieres.
Smash is one of NBC’s most talked about shows for the spring season, getting one of the best timeslots on the schedule, after the networks hit summer singing competition The Voice.
Smash premieres Monday, February 6th at 10p.m. on NBC.
