Its official, Christopher Meloni will be joining True Blood as a regular actor for the shows 5th season.
Last month, rumors were swirling that the actor was being courted by the producers of the HBO vampire drama to join the cast for season 5 in a major arc. Today, the deal was sealed.
Meloni will play “an ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands.” This will be Meloni’s first time returning to HBO since his stint on Oz. This is also Meloni’s first major acting gig since his high-profile job on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, leaving after 12 seasons in this past May.
True Blood season 5 is set to premiere in June on HBO.
