Ratings for Wednesday, January 11th: “Chelsea” has a good start for NBC

The series premiere of Are You There, Chelsea? helped NBC capture its best Wednesday of the season so far. It’s entire Wednesday night line-up was up in all demos. The time slot premiere of Whitney (6.06 million viewers, A18-49: 2.1) was up 10% compared to its last original airing, Chelsea built on Whitney’s audience (6.43 million viewers, A18-49: 2.3), Harry’s Law surged to its second best numbers ever (8.65 million viewers, A18-49: 1.4), and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (83.6 million viewers, A18-49:) –  helping NBC claim third place night.

In other ratings news:

ABC claimed the first place title last night with The Middle (9.59 million viewers, A18-49: 3.0), Suburgatory (8.96 million viewers, A18-49: 2.9), Modern Family (12.33 million viewers, A18-49: 5.1), Happy Endings (7.07 million viewers, A18-49: 3.1), and Revenge (7.51 million viewers, A18-49: 2.4).

The Peoples Choice Awards on CBS earned 8.88 million viewers and a 2.5 in the A18-49 demo – down 20% vs. last year.

The return of One Tree Hill on The CW drew 1.75 million viewers, A18-49: 0.9.
