Rating starved NBC got a nice dose of viewership last night with the coverage of Super Bowl XLVI. Overall, NBC lured in 85.35 million viewers and a 32 rating in the 18-49 demo. 100.86 million viewers watched the New York Giants victory over the New England Patriots, while 95 million viewers stuck around and watched The Super Bowl XLVI Post-Game Show.
The Super Bowl Post-Game Show ran until about 1020p.m., in which the second season premiere of The Voice, taking over the last half hour of the timeslot. The Voice nabbed 40 million viewers between 1020p.m. and 11p.m. The Voice dropped to 30 million viewers and a 13.3 in the 18-49 demo at 11p.m., but that was enough viewers to beat Fox’s post game show last year, Glee. Glee captured 26 million viewers last year.
NBC took advantage of the extra viewers on the network but heavily promoting The Voice, tonight’s premiere of Smash, and NBC’s other upcoming drama, Awake.
