Good interviewers get good information from the people they’re interviewing. Anderson Cooper may have gotten a huge slice of information out of Janet Jackson about joining a certain reality show as a judge, when she visited his daytime talk show Anderson earlier this week.
Jackson appeared on Anderson Monday, talking about a variety of things including her experiences working on TV shows like Good Times and Fame, as well as talking about the sudden death of pop icon Whitney Houston. She also may have revealed her new job, joining Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on Fox’s The X-Factor.
Take a look at the clip here, Jackson all but gives herself away by hesitating on answering the question, nervously laughing it off, and says “No, I’m currently not a judge on The X-Factor, but that’s all I can say.” Currently, is the key word in the last sentence.
Cowell has made it publicly known that he wants star power on the second season of X-Factor after giving longtime colleague Paula Abdul and lackluster judge Nicole Scherzinger the boot a couple of weeks ago. With rumors circulating that music icons Mariah Carey and Beyonce are being highly sought to join the music competition, Janet Jackson falls into the category of “star power” without a doubt.
Whitney Houston was also rumored to be in the running for the judging position before her sudden death last Sunday.
This is exactly what Cowell wanted when he axed Abdul, Scherzinger, and host Steve Jones, he wanted people to keep wondering who would be picked to join The X-Factor. This will keep people excited, interested, and keep X-Factor is the minds of viewers until the second season premieres in September.
