Back in October, FX boldly announced that they were taking a chance on Charlie Sheen and booked him in the starring role on their new sitcom Anger Management, based on the 2003 movie starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. This will be Sheen’s first job after being fired from CBS’ Two and a Half Men last year.
E! News has learned that Anger Management will start production in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley on March 22nd. In addition to the production date, E! News also learned that Anger Management will have an accelerated production, shooting two episodes a week. Management, which will be produced by Dunbar-Mercury, will initially shoot 10 episodes and see how those episodes perform in the ratings. If FX feels the ratings are good enough, the cable network will automatically pick up the series for 90 episodes – the same method that’s used by TBS’ sitcoms Are We There Yet? and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Meet the Browns.
In addition to Sheen, Anger Management stars Selma Blair (Legally Blonde) as Sheen’s therapist and Shawnee Smith (Becker) as Sheen’s wife.
Anger Management debuts this summer on FX.
