FX renews “Archer” for season 4

FX is putting its faith in Archer for another season. The cable net announced yesterday that it would be renewing the animated comedy for its fourth season.

“It was an easy decision to order more Archer” according to Nick Grad, FX’s executive vice president of original programming. The show has a loyal fan base, and has been doing decently well in the ratings for its third season, averaging 1.2 million viewers for the comedy’s latest episode, which is good considered the stiff competition it faces on Thursday nights.

Archer, which premiered on FX on January 2010, and has grown tremendously from its small, cult following in its first season, into a full-grown hit for FX, showing its lasting power for the cable network, and turning into a critical and ratings hit.

Some of the voices behind Archer are Jessica Walter, Aisha Tyler, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, and the Emmy-nominated H. Jon Benjamin, as the titular character.

Archer airs Thursdays at 10p.m. on FX.
