Netflix Goes on Presidents Day Cancellation Spree

On Monday, Netflix handed out pink slips to three of their series, Friends from College, and their two remaining Marvel superhero series, Jessica Jones and The Punisher.

These three cancellations aren’t too surprising if you’ve been following Netflix’s cancellation purge over the last few months, which also included Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Everything Sucks!, and Marvel’s other Netflix shows Like Cage and Iron Fist.

Friends-From-College-Season-2-Cast-Character-GuideEven though Friends from College had one of the best comedic casts on television, led by Cobie Smulders, Keegan-Micheal Key, Fred Savage, Billy Eichner, and Nat Faxon, the show was critically panned by critics and received a 24% on Rotten Tomatoes (even though I enjoyed it solely because of the great cast and their chemistry having fun together).

The-Punisher-Jessica-Jones-Netflix.jpgThe writing has been on the wall for Jessica Jones and The Punisher. Netflix pulled the plug on their companion series’ Luke Cage and Iron Fist back in October, signaling that Netflix and Marvel’s relationship may be ending soon. Also, with Marvel being owned by Disney, and Disney launching their own streaming platform Disney+ sometime in 2019, it’s been expected that Disney will be slowly removing all their current shows and movies from Netflix and other streaming platforms to save everything for themselves.
