CBS is welcoming back many new faces to its 2019-2020 schedule by way of four brand new comedy series.
Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton is set to star alongside Kyle MacLachlan is Carol’s Second Act. Heaton will star as Carol Chambers, a mother who is entering a new chapter in her life and decides to follow her dream to become a doctor after being done raising her two children and retiring from teaching.
Bob ♥ Abishola stars CBS vet Billy Gardell (Mike and Molly) as a Detroit businessman who suddenly suffers a heart attack. Soon after, he unexpectedly falls for his Nigerian-immigrant nurse (Folake Olowofoyeku), and is determined to win her heart. Chuck Lorre wrote the pilot and will executive produce the series. Broke revolves around an outrageous trust fund baby who is cut from his fathers finances, leading him and his wife to move in with his wife’s sister, forcing the families to reconnect. Broke stars former NCIS star Pauley Perrette and Jane the Virgin’s Jaime Camil.
CBS’ only single-camera comedy pickup is The Unicorn starring Walton Goggins as a man who is entering the most difficult year of his life after losing his wife and leans on his close friends to help raise his two daughters. Michaela Watkins and Rob Corddary co-star.
In addition to these four comedy series, CBS also picked up three new drama series for a total of seven new series for the 2019-2020 season, in addition to handing out renewals for Bull, Hawaii Five-O, MacGyver, Madam Secretary, SEAL Team and S.W.A.T. CBS may also pickup Edie Falco drama series Tommy for midseason
