ABC handed out renewals to American Housewife, Bless This Mess, Fresh Off The Boat, Single Parents and The Rookie as it finalizing its 2019-2020 renewals
Single Parents will be back for more parental adventures next season with its cast led by Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live), Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond). Kimrie Lewis (Scandal) and Jake Choi (Sucession) round out the cast. Single Parents has averaged 3.4 million viewers in its post-Modern Family timeslot this season.
Bless This Mess is a late arrival to ABC’s schedule and has earned a renewal after only four episodes. Originally slated to air on Fox before they passed on the series and rescued by ABC, Bless This Mess stars Lake Bell and Dax Shepard as newlyweds who leave their New York home and relocate to Iowa, and inserts themselves into the small, tight knit community.
The Rookie stars ABC favorite Nathan Fillion as the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department after starting over to fulfill his dream of being a cop. The Rookie has the daunting task of calling ABC’s toughest timeslot, Tuesday’s at 10p.m. it’s home, but has done well averaging 4.17 million viewers this season.
American Housewife starring Katy Mixon has proved to be a utility player for ABC, averaging over 4 million viewers in whatever timeslot ABC throws at it.
After it’s move to Friday’s this year, Fresh Off The Boat‘s ratings have slipped a bit, but there’s less pressure to succeed on Friday nights. The 3 million viewers FOTB draws it was good enough to warrant it a 6th season.
These series join Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, How to Get Away With Murder, The Bachelor and Dancing With the Stars snagging renewals today. Series that weren’t so lucky, For The People, The Kids Are Alright, Speechless, Splitting Up Together and The Fix.
