As Expected, ABC Renews “Grey’s Anatomy” “Station 19” and “How to Get Away With Murder”

TGIT will continue into the 2019-2020 season as ABC with Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19 and How to Get Away With Murder all set to return.

Grey’s received a two-season pickup, TV’s longest-running medical drama into its 16th and 17th seasons. Station 19 will be returning for its 3rd season, and How to Get Away With Murder will be back for its 6th season.

“Everyone at Shondaland is thrilled that our fans’ commitment to TGIT continues,” said Shonda Rhimes and producing partner Betsy Beers in a joint statement. “We are so proud of Krista and Pete and the work they do. Making the choice to have Krista oversee ‘Station 19’ was easy — the creativity she brings to the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe continues a tradition of storytelling we hold dear.”

Ending its 15th season, Grey’s Anatomy continues to be a ratings juggernaut for ABC, continuously rating #1 in its Thursday 8p.m. timeslot, effectively helping the ratings for its spinoff Station 19.

Fellow Shondaland series For The People didn’t make the cut as ABC pulled the plug on that series.
