Fox Renews “The Orville” For Season 3

Fox is staying in the Seth MacFarlane business, ordering a third season of sci-fi series The Orville.

MacFarlane created and stars in The Orville, an homage to Star Trek. The Orville is one of Fox’s final decisions to renew or cancel, and it had to be a difficult decision. In addition to its ratings falling between season one and season two, the high production value on this series is more complex than the typical broadcast series due to the extensive costumes, makeup and special effects. Another factor in the renewal most likely stemmed from keeping creator MacFarlane happy at the network. Family Guy has already been renewed for its eighteen on Fox this fall.

The Orville joins Empire, The Resident, Last Man Standing, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Bob’s Burgers on Fox for the 2019-2020 season. Keep up with all of Fox’s renewals and cancellations here.
