Award season is currently in full swing! In addition to the slew of critics associations announcing their nominees and winners, the Golden Globes announced their nominations on Monday to much controversy over their lack of representation female talent and people of color. Let’s all hope the Screen Actors Guild doesn’t repeat the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s oversight.
Last years film winners included Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Glenn Close (The Wife), Mahershala Ali (Green Book) and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place), while Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture went to the cast of Black Panther.
On the television side, the actors guild rewarded Jason Bateman (Ozark), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Tony Shalhoub (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series went to the cast of This Is Us for the second year in a row, while Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series went to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Darren Criss and Patricia Arquette received the actor for Outstanding Performance by a Male and Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie for their roles in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace and Escape at Dannemora, respectively.
