Creative Arts Emmys Winners (Night 4): “Succession” and “Schitt’s Creek” Take Casting Wins

Night 4 of the Creative Arts Emmys have concluded and Succession and Schitt’s Creek just about solidified their much assumed wins in the Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Comedy Series wins, respectively, by each winning their categories in the the Outstanding Casting for a Drama and Comedy Series.

Winning the Outstanding Casting award is usually synonymous in winning the top drama and comedy prize, but even thought Succession won tonight, those two categories don’t always align. Stranger Things won the casting award in 2017 and The Crown in 2018, both losing to Game of Thrones for Outstanding Drama Series. The last time the casting didn’t align in the comedy category was 2014 when Orange is the New Black took the casting win, but the eventual comedy winner that year went to Veep. solely based on history, I’m more confident about Schitt’s Creek than Succession.

Predictions wise, 8 of out 14 correct, not too bad – even thought it should’ve been 10 as I changed OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL INTERACTIVE PROGRAM and OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL MAIN TITLE THEME MUSIC from their eventual winners. The lesson there, always stay with your gut instinct!
